Our Story

Phoenix Fitness & PT is a small, personalised training and fitness studio in the heart of Albert Park village offering Personal Training, Small Group Training and Pilates. 

The concept of Owner/Operator Tom Wade, Phoenix Fitness & PT opened their doors in February 2016 after Tom noticed a need for a different type of fitness experience.  Recognising that many people get ‘lost’ in big gym and studio environments, and Personal Training was unaffordable for many, there was an opportunity to create a unique, attentive studio where the emphasis was on personalised training experiences and a supportive community feel.

Our focus is on helping people make fitness and well being an enjoyable part of everyday life.  As Tom says;

“I believe that variety is the spice of life and every workout at Phoenix Fitness & PT is different to the next. We work hard, but have lots of fun doing it! I would like to think that the reason people keep coming back is, not only the great workouts, but also the atmosphere that is created at the classes between us all. I am proud that we have created a little fitness community which is welcoming and inclusive, and where people support each other and reach their goals together; because together, we are stronger”

Tom is a qualified Level 3 Personal Trainer, Pilates Instructor, Run Coach and Sports Masseuse with over 15 years experience in exercise and fitness.  Starting his career as a Tennis Coach, and then working as a Sports Masseuse and Personal Trainer at an awarding country club Tom moved to Australia in Feb 2009 to escape the English winters.  In Australia Tom has worked as masseur to V league soccer teams and the Victorian under 15s soccer team, and as a PT and Studio Manager for 7 years at a Whole Body Vibration training studio prior to opening Phoenix Fitness & PT.

After operating in South Melbourne for 4 years, Phoenix Fitness has recently relocated to the heart Albert Park. We also offer online training sessions, and mobile training in the suburbs of Albert Park, Brighton, Hampton, Middle Park, Port Melbourne, South Melbourne and Sandringham.
